Royal Asscher is known for its Royal Asscher cut and has been in operations since 1854 in Amsterdam. It is founded by Joseph Isaac Asscher and passed on to his son, Isaac Joseph Asscher.

They are known for the diamonds Excelsior, Cullinan, and Emerald cut. The brand is synonymous with square-emerald cuts, however, only Royal Asscher can produce the Royal Asscher cut. The royal cut features a high crown and 74 facets - whereas the original Asscher had 58 facets. A number of the Asscher family members were bestowed with knighthood for their philanthropy.
